In Kazakhstan, the professional holiday of librarians is observed on April 23. This date coincides with National Book Day, established at the initiative of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The coincidence of these holidays on the same day enhances their significance and highlights the special role of libraries in the dissemination of knowledge and the preservation of cultural heritage. A librarian is not only a keeper of books, but also a guide to the light of knowledge, a guardian of the treasures of wisdom, and a provider of spiritual nourishment for future generations.
It is worth noting that this date also coincides with World Book and Copyright Day, established by UNESCO.
The “Reading Nation” project launched in our country is a large-scale intellectual and educational initiative aimed at fostering a sustainable reading culture among the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, developing thinking skills, and promoting books as a source of knowledge among all age and social groups.
